African American Regional Education Alliances- Welcome Letter
Hello Livermore Families,
The Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District is pleased to be partnering with the African American Regional Education Alliances (AAREA) again this year to provide students with opportunities to engage with peers, learn about college options, and get general support with their student needs. AAREA is an initiative of the Choose College Educational Foundation, Inc. whose overall goal is to emerge, sustain, and grow a regional collaborative network that designs and implements innovative educational services targeting the needs of African American youth and their families in various East Bay Area regions, by engaging in meaningful conversations and reviewing best practices for improving the academic success of African American students.
AAREA meetings will be organized differently this year, depending on the students' grade level. Please see the linked flyers below for more details.

The sessions and activities will provide valuable information around creating connections, academic goal setting, and college and career planning. AAREA will facilitate activities to help students build community and networks and will provide resources to help students prepare for life beyond high school both academically and socially.
Your student will be invited to the sessions and given an excused absence to that class period if they decide to attend. Students are still required to complete coursework for that class period.
Please review AAREA's website so that you may have a more comprehensive understanding of their mission and vision: https://www.theaarea.org. If you do not wish for your child to attend AAREA meetings, please email me at anoble@lvjusd.org
Sincerely,
