ROP Information
Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program (ROP)
What is ROP?
Regional Occupational Programs (ROP) provide engaging learning opportunities for high school students eager to acquire career training and technical skills essential for business and industry employment.
How do I enroll in an ROP class?
Students select ROP classes during the LHS course registration window. All available ROP classes can be chosen using this process. Following the high school registration period, students may be contacted by their home school College & Career Specialist to complete an additional ROP registration process, if required.
Most ROP classes can only be taken during junior and senior year. Both Medical Occupations and Nursing Careers have mandatory parent/student orientations that happen in the spring prior to the year the student plans to take the class. There is also an application process for these two classes.
Benefits of ROP Classes
- Earn grades and elective credits toward high school graduation.
- In most ROP classes, students can satisfy UC/CSU a-g college requirements and earn college credit at a local community college.
- Many ROP classes offer the opportunity to earn/prepare for a professional certification.
- Gain experience required for immediate employment.
- Participate in courses that offer internships.
- Experience careers that may assist in choosing college majors and enhance college admission applications.
Questions?
Students interested in ROP classes should speak to Ms. Cabading in the College & Career Center (pcaading@lvjusd.org) or their counselor to see what, if any, requirements there are for the class.
ROP class information and requirements can also be found in the Livermore High School Course Catalog.
